An owner/operator company is the cheapest way to ship your car. However, owner/operators may be more difficult to locate. Many may not have a national website, which will require extra legwork on your part. However, it is worth the extra savings and security.

If you know anyone who has had a good experience with a car transporter, then ask this person for a recommendation. Many owner/operators usually hand out business cards to their clients because they know the industry operates mostly on referrals. If your friend used a brokering company to find the driver, perhaps they have the driver's information, which you can contact directly.

There are a few carrier fleets of owner/operators, which can be found on the Internet. However, many of these fleets only transport within a particular region. Hiring a driver such as this maybe more affordable than working with a large car transport company.

There is so much diversity within the car shipping industry, it is recommended to do some comparison-shopping. Unfortunately, you may have to accept some trade-offs to get a reduced price. For instance, you may be required to drop off and pick up your car at a terminal instead of having it delivered door-to-door and instead of having your car delivered in 14 day, you may have to wait 21 days. This is more of an inconvenience, but it can save money.
