Car transporters will make arrangements to pick up your car and deliver it to a prearranged destination, generally within a few weeks. Car transporters are excellent when you absolutely can't drive your car, or you don't have anyone who could drive it for you. There are several types of auto transporters and it is important that you know which you are dealing with beforehand. One form of auto transporter is a company which owns a fleet of trucks and hires drivers. These companies may or may not have links to other forms of shipment companies such as movers or package shippers. The main problem with this form of company is that you may not be able to get a direct answer about when your car will be delivered. The next form of auto transporter is called an owner/operator. This is when the individual owns their own trucks and drive them themselves. When you are shipping a car an owner/operator is probably the best option. You will be able to contact the driver and get information about your car and a realistic estimate of when it will be delivered. Owner/operators also are generally more responsible for your car. The final form of auto transporter is a broker. Brokers find a company or owner/operator to ship your car. They require a commission for brokering the deal, meaning the rate may be higher. It is not recommend to work with a brokering company, which no one has recommended to you, as this industry is quite unregulated, thus, anyone could call himself or herself a broker.
